Photobooth Guestbooks

Well, this weekend has been a whirlwind with a big wedding for Darcie Thompson and Kyle Malone! They are now officially Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Malone and it was a blast to be apart of. We'll have pictures for their wedding recap soon, but I wanted to tell you about a fun thing that we planned for them at their wedding. They're such a fun couple and wanted something different, so we had a photobooth that served as something fun for the guests to do and as their guestbook.

This isn't the exact look of their photobooth, but the guests had a blast with it! There was a line all night long for guests to take their pictures, keep one side for themselves and put the other side in the book and sign a message to the newlyweds. The couple not only receives the guestbook already put together for them, but also a copy of the cd out of the booth so that they have all the photos, including the ones the guests took.

If you want something creative and fun, check out Photobooth Nashville! Your guests will enjoy feeling like kids again.

A Park Romance

We are long overdue to begin the wedding recaps! There's several we have to update with, some of which we've got to get photos of.

This wedding was back in October, on a crisp fall day. Tera and Jason were a sweet couple who really wanted to put their touch on their day. Tera did all of the planning for her wedding, decor, favors, vendors, etc. and wanted A Delightful Day to help bring these touches together on the day of her wedding. The sweet ceremony was at Percy Werner State Park in Belle Meade under the beautiful green trees, with deer near by watching. After the ceremony, the guests moved downtown to Events at 1418, the new event space opened by The Bake Shoppe. These great pictures were taking by Marcia and Cade of Inara Studios.

This is the precious Junior Groomsman the bride's brother, Flowergirl which is the daughter of Tera and Jason, and her nephew the ringbearer. They were precious walking down the aisle, despite the flowergirl's break down at the beginning of their trip down the aisle. Grandmother came to the rescue!

Here's Jason looking on as his wife to be is being escorted down the aisle by her father.

The Bride created these beautiful centerpieces that we put together on the day of the wedding.

They ended the evening with a fun sparkler exit with all of their guests cheering them into their getaway car!

Best Wishes Tera and Jason! A Delightful Day wishes you years of happiness and joy!

The Next Big Thing

Elegant Bride magazine has put out their Next Big Things and Back in Style lists. I thought that would be something of interest to most brides, so here are the trends that made the cuts.

Next Big Thing:

  • Video Save-the-Dates- I had seen a vendor for this at the convention I just attended and it is a great personalized idea, and keepsake, for your guests. Check out www.dvdinvitations.com. Also in looking I found this great site that will do a DVD Slideshow for you to put on your wedding website; www.kmi-design.com.
  • Chocolate tastings at receptions- Who wouldn't want to try chocolate! Much like a wine or cheese tasting party, your guests will sample many types of chocolates.
  • A new color palette: Magenta+Pool Blue has such a fun and casual look for a wedding reception.
  • Thursday night weddings- This is a great idea for cocktail receptions and a lot of vendors will give you great deals for weddings on Sunday through Thursday.
  • Silk Jersey Wedding Gowns- These gowns are so comfortable and do lend more of a casual look.
  • Leucadendron (a.k.a. Safari Sunset)- This flower has a great "foliage" look to it, exotic, and two tones for if you were doing green/pink combination. Quite an interesting flower.  Ld19leucadendron
  • Paraiba tourmaline engagement rings which are giving the once unique sapphires and colored diamond engagement rings a run for their money. Paraiba

Back in Style:

  • Taffeta and Tulle- The days of tacky tulle are over... well, depending on how you wear it! No one does Taffeta and Tulle better than Monique Lhuillier
  • Pear-shaped Diamonds- They're considered the new alternative to round and princess, but I'm pretty partial to my princess cut.
  • Sweetheart Necklines- This bodice detail is hot, sexy, and has a flattering look on almost any body type. Melissa Sweet has an incredible line and one of my favorite dresses at The Bride Room is a Melissa Sweet design with a sweetheart neckline. Collette_primary
  • Quiet, at home weddings- They're becoming more popular, having weddings of smaller scales, with smaller guest counts. Simple and Elegant is the theme.
  • Sleeves- It's no longer your grandma's wedding gown with lace sleeves!
  • The "getaway outfit"- There's so many cute suits or dresses you could use for this! Think Father of the Bride exit scene.
  • Wrist Corsages- These would be so beautiful on bridesmaids instead of carrying a large bouquet, but don't think prom. Wrist_corsage
  • Ice Sculptures- No cheesy objects like Swans, but something fun like the Martini Luge for drinks at a bar.Martini_luge
  • Super-8mm wedding movies- More and more wedding videos are becoming like Hollywood style videos. Cool effects lend to a beautiful depiction of your wedding day, old style.

I hope that some of these ideas may inspire you to make your event unique. Not everything will fit everyone's style, but pick and choose.

Preserving your wedding gown

While I was at my convention in Florida I came across the neatest discovery! I have always wanted to think of a way that I could preserve the beauty of my wedding gown where I would be able to look at it often. Of course it being in a box I won't be able to look at it. So, ABC member Stephanie London uses her God given talent of artistry and creates a visual memory of your dress you can look at every day! Her website is www.stephanielondon.com and she can create a pencil drawing, acrylic or oil on canvas of your gown.

The photographs on her website don't do her amazing work any justice! If someone has asked you for a bridal gift, there's no better gift than a painting or drawing of your dress you could admire every day. When your parents or your mother in law asks, direct them to her webpage!

A0064_0039_2small A Delightful Day was featured on a new Nashville wedding planning resource website this week! :) Whitney of Dove Wedding Photography was a guest blogger and featured some of my favorite photos and details from our (Amber & Brandon) September wedding. Sean & Stephanie - Sneak Peek

Img_2366_2small_1

Sean & Stephanie were married in November and the great Dove Wedding Photography team recently posted a sneak peek of their gorgeous photos! It was a beautiful fall day - couldn't have asked for anything more perfect. Their friends and family were such a fun bunch - somehow they managed to convince us and the Dove team that we truly needed to be on the dance floor with them! We don't usually partake in festivities at our events, but after much begging & pleading, we granted the request for a song or two. Such a fun night to remember!

More photos and details soon!

Wedding Planners Anonymous

It was my first year at the ABC convention for wedding planners and I'm tell you what, I've never seen a room full of 300+ wedding planners who are obsessed about weddings! It's a true addiction I tell you! I'll do several posts about the fun finds at the show, but I wanted to do a recap for you to see what all fun things that we did at the Convention.

I had the best time with my fellow Nashville wedding planner, Courtney Hammons, and travel agent Brandy Brown. I had never been to a Character Breakfast before, so Courtney being a past Disney Planner, got us into the breakfast. I had the BEST time and felt like such a kid! We had breakfast with Tigger, Pooh, Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, and the Mad Hatter!

Since we are wedding planners, we have to party high style. Our theme was Floribibbean since we were in Florida so here are some cute centerpieces that would be cute for a Beach themed engagement party, shower, or luncheon.

MORE TO COME! :)
